Kazakh port transships over 8.5 mln tons of oil cargo

The Aktau International Commercial Sea Port transshipped over 8.75 million tons of oil cargo in January-November compared to over 10.3 million tons in January- November 2009, the port said. The volume of oil cargo transshipped in November totaled 807,100 tons, or 35 percent more than the planned figure.

In 2009 the port transported more than 11.3 million tons of oil cargo compared to nine million tons in 2008.

About three million tons of dry cargo was transported in January-November compared to about 2.4 million tons in January- November last year. About 1.8 million tons fall to steel products, ferry cargo - 525,300 tons, grain - 377,300 tons and 288,800 tons - other goods.

Last year, the port transported more than 2.6 million tons of dry cargo compared to 2.11 million tons in 2008.

The port transported about 11.7 million tons of oil and dry cargo in January-November, which is 4.2 percent more than the planned figure.
Total transshipment in 2009 amounted to about 14 million tons of oil and dry cargo compared to 11 million tons in 2008.

In January-November the Aktau port received 1,891 ships.

There are six international sea ports - Baku (Azerbaijan), Astrakhan (Russia), Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan), Aktau (Kazakhstan), Enezeli and Neka (Iran) in the Caspian Sea.
