Azerbaijan's state committee on standardization approves four new standards on fuel

State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan has adopted national standards for four types of petroleum products, the State Committee reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the State Committee has approved standards AZS 380-2011 "Diesel fuel. Technical specifications" and AZS 381-2011 "Euro Diesel. Technical specifications".

The Committee also approved standard AZS 388-2011 "Motor fuel. Unleaded petrol. Technical specifications", which refers to unleaded petrol used as motor fuel for motor vehicles with engines running on unleaded petrol. This standard applies to brands of gasoline of Euro-92, Premium Euro-95, Euro Super-98 (I, II, III names).

The State Committee also approved a standard AZS 443-2011 "Motor fuel for medium-and low-speed diesel engines. Technical specifications."

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan), who owns two refineries in Azerbaijan, works on improving the quality of diesel fuel and gasoline produced by them. SOCAR intends to switch to the production of gasoline Euro-3 standard in 2012, and diesel of Euro-3 - by the end of 2011. Currently, gasoline and diesel produced by SOCAR fully compliant with Euro-2.
