Iran will increase gasoline production to 100 million liters by completing seven new refineries, ILNA reported, quoting the Parliament's Energy Commission Spokesman Emad Hosseini.
"Gasoline production capacity will increase to 100 million liters by launching Persian Gulf, Parsian, Arak, Abadan and Isfahan refineries; there would be no need to import gasoline," he said.
Hosseini noted that Iran currently produces 50 million liters of gasoline and imports an average of 15 to 20 million liters.
Previously the deputy of parliament's energy commission Nasser Soudani confirmed that the oil ministry issued an order to temporary import 14 million liters of gasoline, due to the low quality of octane in domestic gasoline production.
However, Deputy Oil Minister Ali-Reza Zeighami noted earlier that Iran is not importing gasoline and it can only import octane material to increase the quality of domestic gasoline production in some refineries.
Iran 's average gasoline consumption is 60 million liters per day, while 48 million liters are provided by 9 refineries in the country.
