Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept.26 / Trend, E. Ismayilov /
As of Sept.2, the volume of gas pumped into Azerbaijan's underground gas storage facilities is about 1.88 billion cubic meters, a source in the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), which owns the country's two underground gas storage facilities, told Trend.
He said about 1.03 billion cubic meters of the total volume of gas pumped in 2011 accounted for Garadagh, while 852.51 million cubic meters for Kalmaz underground gas storage facility.
At present, the volume of gas in underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan is more than 3.02 billion cubic meters, taking into account the remains from last year (more than 1.13 billion cubic meters). Following the pumping season in 2010 the figure was 3.05 billion cubic meters.
About 1.64 billion cubic meters of the total gas volume accounts for Garadagh, while the remaining (about 1.39 billion cubic meters) - Kalmaz underground gas storage facility.
In 2011 gas volume in underground gas storage facilities is forecasted to reach 3.5 billion cubic meters. Gas pumping process started in May 2011 and will be completed in late November - early December.
At present, daily volume of gas pumping into underground gas storage facilities is 3.24 million cubic meters, 1.92 million cubic meters of which accounts for Garadagh, while the rest - Kalmaz underground gas storage facility.
Roughly 1.92 billion cubic meters out of about 1.93 billion cubic meters of gas pumped last season into the underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan were pumped out.
Following the completion of the 2010-2011 pumping season, the volume of gas reserves in underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan amounted to 3.05 billion cubic meters.
