Organisation of the production of polypropylene and low pressure polyethylene will enable the establishing of new major enterprises in the country, President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists.
"SOCAR within its chemical division, namely the Azerkimya Production Association, plans to build new units for production of polypropylene and low pressure polyethylene," Abdullayev said.
Construction of the new units will be conducted using Canadian equipment.
Abdullayev said that it is supposed that the construction of each of the units would cost about 80-100 million manat.
Start of production of new chemical products will create conditions for the development of other directions of the chemical industry and in particular production of products used at home, such as pipes and other products.
As Abdullayev said earlier, SOCAR plans to launch production of polypropylene and low pressure polyethylene by 2014.
The new production will allow SOCAR to provide the new chemical industrial park with raw material,which will be established in Sumgayit.
