DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, May 7. The number of bank payment cards in Tajikistan reached 7,111,006 by the end of March 2024, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, this figure is 30 percent more than 5,455,384 cards by the same date in 2023. Furthermore, the figure grew by 1.7 percent compared to 6,991,672 cards by the end of February of the current year.
Moreover, the number of bank payment card holders reached 6,881,947 people at the end of March 2024, which is a 35.4 percent increase from 5,082,394 holders by the end of March 2023 and a rise of 1.7 percent compared to 6,765,742 people in February 2024.
In addition, the number of non-bank payment cards totaled 854,779 as of March 31, 2024, which is 15 percent higher than the same period in 2023 (741,246 cards). Compared to 847,838 cards in February 2024, the amount grew by 0.82 percent.
As of the end of March 2024, Tajikistan had 63 credit financial organizations operating, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds. There were 24 banks issuing bank payment cards at the end of the reporting month.
