In November, the Sarmatia international pipeline company will present a report on the environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) of Brody-Plotsk ("Adam's gate") to the General Directorate for the Protection of the Environment of Poland, Director General of the company Sergey Skripka told Trend on Tuesday.

According to him, the preparation of the ESIA has already been completed. After its approval, and the changes in local land use plans and construction, an appeal will follow for an environmental permit.

"We are now at a stage where all the documents are being prepared and we only need the last decision on making changes to the plans, which will be made by the local council," Skripka noted.

It is expected that the approval process of changes in local land use and construction plans will be completed in November, and the company is planning to apply for an environmental permit.

Previously, Skripka noted that the report will be submitted to the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Lublin and Białystok.

Ecological and environmental permits are planned to be obtained by late this year to apply to the European Commission for a final decision on the financial support of the project early in 2013.

A study on the route selection of future "Brody-Adamova Zastava" pipeline has been completed. The length of the route will be 377 kilometers, 120 of which will be built on the territory of Ukraine, 257 kilometers in Poland.

Sarmatia was created by Ukrtransnafta and the Polish PERN Przyjazn company on July 12, 2004 to attract investments to design and complete the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline to Plotsk.

Construction project of Brody-Plotsk pipeline was included in the EU "Infrastructure and Environment" operational programme as a priority. Within this project funds were reserved amounting to 495 million zloty (about $177 million).

Odessa-Brody oil transportation project sought to diversify oil supplies to Ukrainian refineries and development of transit capabilities. Construction of Odessa-Brody pipeline was completed in May 2002. The pipeline has a length of 674 kilometers, the pipe diameter is 1020 mm. The capacity of pipeline and the terminal is 9-14 million tons per year.
