Iran is finalizing conversion of two gas-fired power plants to combined-cycle power plants (CCPPs) by inaugurating steam turbines.
The steam turbines would add 980 MW to the Mahshahr and Behbehan power plants’ capacity, Mohsen Tarztalab, the general manager of Iran’s Thermal Power Plant Holding (TPPH), said.
Overall cost of the project stood at 290 million euros.
Currently, the share of CCPPs in Iran’s total power generation capacity stands at about 25 percent. Iran plans to double this figure in coming five years.
The efficiency of Iran’s power plants stands at about 37 percent currently. Iran plans to double this figure by converting all thermal power plants into CCPPs.
