Three companies express interest in IGB construction supervision

Three companies have expressed interest in supervision of construction of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), which envisages transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Bulgaria, Trend reports citing a message from ICGB AD company engaged in the IGB construction.

“On Nov.27, 2018, the offers of the participants in the procedure for selection of a consultant for construction supervision for construction of gas interconnector Greece-Bulgaria were opened. Within the deadline were submitted three offers from the following companies: ESM Ltd., Joint venture EKO BUL CONTROL and Joint venture GAS EXPERT 2018,” said the message.

The estimated value of the public procurement is 1,300,000 BGN ($758,335.50) excluding VAT, according to ICGB AD.

“The procurement for construction supervision is the last of the main tenders related to the construction of the IGB pipeline for which offers are received and are in the process of evaluation. Together with the contractors of the design, procurement and construction activities, the supply of line pipes and the Owner’s Engineer for the project, the Contractor for the activities related to the construction supervision is one of the key participants in the construction process and is mandatory according to the Spatial Development Act for legal commencement and performance of construction works on the territory of Bulgaria,” said company.

In accordance with the Technical Scope to the procedure and within the meaning of the Spatial Development Act, the consultant should perform the construction supervision, monitor the compliance with the basic construction requirements and the effective legislation on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, according to the message.

IGB is a gas pipeline, which will allow Bulgaria to receive Azerbaijani gas, in particular, the gas produced from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz 2 gas and condensate field. IGB is expected to be connected to TAP via which gas from the Shah Deniz field will be delivered to the European markets.

The initial capacity of IGB will be 3 billion cubic meters of gas.
