Georgia's Telasi electricity distribution company reveals data for 9M2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 6

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgian Telasi electricity distribution company distributed 1.96 billion kW/h of electricity in 9 months of 2020, which is 9 percent (193.7 million kWh) less than in first half of 2019 (2.15 billion kW/h), Trend reports referring to the company's website.

The decrease in electricity consumption is due to the introduction of the State of Emergency in Georgia (from March 21 to May 22 inclusive) in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, which caused the suspension of work of a number of companies and enterprises. The work of some companies is limited to this day, and many budget and commercial organizations work remotely.

From January through September 2020, the volume of net supply of electricity to consumers decreased by 9.8 percent (by 201.8 million kWh) compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to 1.86 billion kWh of electricity. The decrease in this indicator is also due to restrictions in the country's economy.

For nine months of 2020, the number of subscribers of Telasi increased by 3.5 percent (23,000 subscribers) compared to 2019 and amounted to 674,000 subscribers, of which 607,200 are individuals and 66,800 are legal entities.

In the reporting period, the total length of the company's power lines reached 6,006 km, which is 2.8 percent (164 km) more than in January through September 2019 (5,842 km).

The total length of the company's power lines has increased due to the development of the network, the growth of subscribers' number and renovation and modernization work.

Telasi is one of the largest electricity distribution companies in Georgia, which distributes electricity in Tbilisi. The company supplies electricity to more than 600,000 consumers.
