BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. An oil refinery will be put into operation at Iran's Abadan Oil Refining Company in the next few days, Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji told reporters in Tehran on March 15, Trend reports citing Shana News Agency.

The minister noted that about 210,000 barrels of light and heavy crude oil daily will be processed at this refinery belonging to Abadan Oil Refining Company.

“In addition to the gasoline and diesel production, the mentioned refinery will supply raw materials to petrochemical plants. In total, $1.1 billion has been spent on the construction of the refinery,” he added.

According to Owji, as a result of the launch of this refinery, Abadan Oil Refining Company’s daily gasoline production will increase from 10 million liters to 14 million liters, and diesel production from 15 million liters to 18 million liters per day. At the same time, mazut production of the company will decrease.

“During the activity of the current Iranian government (which has been in power since August 2021), the construction of facilities as a part of 31 projects worth $12 billion has been completed and the facilities have been put into use,” Owji said.

Iran's Abadan Oil Refining Company processes 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The company produces various products, including, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline, white oil, diesel, mazut, bitumen, solvents, sulfur, naphtha, and other products.
