BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 6. Kyrgyzstan has submitted a request to the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) for a grant to acquire over 100 units of ambulances, Trend reports.
The grant amounts to $3 million on a non-repayable and non-refundable basis, according to the fund. This acquisition is in line with the implementation of Kyrgyzstan's "Healthy People, Prosperous Country" state program (to be realized until 2030).
Previously, in 2021, the EFSD provided Kyrgyzstan with a $3 million grant to acquire medical transport. Under this grant, the country's healthcare institutions received 47 ambulances, 58 units of sanitary transport, and two disinfection facilities.
The EFSD launched the "Health Caravan" grant program in 2018, with the goal of preventing diseases in remote areas of the country. The initiative received an allocation of $1.8 million. The project included the procurement of mobile medical complexes and specialized medical trains. These facilities have provided high-tech medical services to more than 20,000 people.
The EFSD is a regional financial mechanism with a volume exceeding $9 billion, established in 2009. Its objectives include promoting economic and financial stability in member states and supporting their sustainable development. Kyrgyzstan is a founding member of the EFSD. During its operation, the fund has allocated over $660 million towards the country's development.
