BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. Azerbaijan is poised to make significant contributions in the transition to green energy, not only for its own sustainable development but also for nations spanning a vast region from Asia to Europe, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the ministerial dialogue on "Scaling Investments to Triple Renewable Energy and Double Energy Efficiency", Trend reports.
"During this critical period, one of our primary strategic objectives is to enhance energy capacity by an additional 5 gigawatts and facilitate the supply of this energy to Europe via the Caspian-Black Sea, European, and Azerbaijan-Turkish corridors. Additionally, we aim to establish a green energy corridor connecting Azerbaijan and Central Asia, enabling the transfer of renewable energy from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
By interlinking these regional green energy corridors, Azerbaijan can make a substantial impact on the global transition to sustainable energy, benefiting not only itself but also a wide range of countries spanning from Asia to Europe. This initiative aligns with our commitment to meeting global sustainable development goals by 2030.
To effectively execute these ambitious initiatives and achieve a genuine transformation in the energy transition, robust collaboration and support from all nations, organizations, and sectors are essential. Let us wholeheartedly embrace our roles, mobilize our financial and technological resources, and take decisive action for a sustainable future. This is our moment for collective action, and together, we can turn the global energy aspirations outlined in COP29 into a tangible reality," the minister said.
