Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / Azerbaijan is one of the most favourable countries in Eurasia for investing, the Director General of Azercell Telecom, Azerbaijan's largest mobile network operator, Halim Atesh, said in Moscow at the conference 'Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey's Approach, Ways, and the Role of Three Countries in Formation of a Unified Geopolitical Area in Eurasia', the company reported.

"Our company was founded in 1996 as a result of cooperation between such large European operators as TeliaSonera and Turkcell. Presently, Azercell's share in the market is 73% and we are Azerbaijan's largest telecommunications company," Atesh said.

After coming to a Eurasian country, European companies should improve the general level of the country's market and promote the development of the country, Atesh said.

"Azercell can serve as a good example when the issue is considered. Our company was one of the first companies in the world to introduce a pre-payment tariff set (SimSim), and Azercell is the single CIS company which received the Investors in People certificate, as well as the first company in the region to receive the ISO 9001-2000 certificate," he said.

A total of Azercell Teleсom's investments are put towards the development of communications in Azerbaijan, which made up some $600mln. The company is one of the largest investors in the non-oil sector. Azercell has also transferred some $400mln in taxes to the public budget, making it the largest tax-payer in the non-oil sector.
