Trans-Caspian segment of Transnational Eurasian super informational cable line within TASIM project will be constructed by December 2012, executive director on infrastructure projects of the project participant - Kazakh company "KazTransCom" Alexander Kislitsin told Trend over phone on Thursday.

"We plan to finish the construction of fiber-optic cable line until the ice covers the waters of the Caspian Sea. Thus, it will be approximately in November. Now we are working by this schedule," Kislitsin said.

Meanwhile, due to some external factors, the deadline for Trans-Caspian segment of fiber-optic cable line construction can be delayed to August 2013, Kislitsin said.

"You see what is happening in Europe, Middle East and in the world markets. These factors can greatly influence on investing the project," Kislitsin said.

KazTransCom's representative added that Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have signed all protocols and agreed on all the issues concerning the project. At present, solution suppliers for the project are being chosen.

"Among the considered suppliers there are the companies having vast experience in main underwater fiber optic cables construction - the companies from China, Norway, Great Britain. Somewhere in the middle of June, we will agree with Azerbaijani party on these suppliers and a competition will be announced," Kislitsin said.

Trans-Caspian fiber-optic cable line will be constructed jointly by Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan as a part of Transnational Eurasian super informational highway (TASIM) project.

TASIM project has been initiated by Azerbaijan and designed to connect 20 countries in total. Its implementation will eliminate "information gap" between the countries of Western Europe and the Pacific basin.

Besides KazTransCom, the project involves such operators as Russian Rostelecom, Turkish TurkTelecom and Chinese ChinaTelecom and Azerbaijani Azertelekom. All operators have proper support at the level of their governments.
