Global demand for personal computers grows in 2Q2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 13

Demand for personal computers (PCs) has grown by more than 10 percent in the second quarter of 2021, Trend reports referring to a report on PC market research from the International Data Corporation (IDC).

The issued data take into account shipments of traditional desktops, notebooks, and workstations.

“Despite electronic component shortages, the industry showed growth of 13.2 percent. Over a three-month period (from April to June), 83.6 million PCs were sold globally, an increase of 9.7 million units from the second quarter of 2020,” the IDC’s report said.

Besides, according to the report, the largest manufacturer of the PCs is Chinese Lenovo, which accounts for almost a quarter of the world market - 23.9 percent. HP ranks second with a share of 22.2 percent. Dell Technologies closes the top three with a share of 16.7 percent. The fourth and fifth positions of the rating were taken by Apple and Acer with shares of 7.4 and 7.3 percent, respectively.
