ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 12. The tally of enrolled individuals utilizing Internet Banking in Turkmenistan surpassed 1.08 million as of the beginning of May 2024, Trend reports.
Information from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan indicates that these statistics represent an 11 percent increase compared to the number of registered users at the commencement of the corresponding month last year, which stood at 974,309.
The largest number of registered users of this service live in the Mary (247,095 users) and Lebap (240,018 users) regions, as well as in the city of Ashgabat (234,944 users).
During the reporting period, Dayhanbank boasted the highest user count, with 397,334 registered users. Turkmenistan State Commercial Bank trailed closely behind with 369,613 users, while Turkmenbashi Joint-Stock Commercial Bank amassed 178,932 users, securing the third spot in this metric.
In the meantime, people use the Internet Banking application to replenish non-cash items such as city and cell phones, IP-TV, and the Internet, as well as to pay for loans and purchase tickets for rail and intercity buses.
Turkmenistan's financial sector is experiencing consistent growth, notably in the incorporation of mobile applications for diverse service and product payments. Transaction volumes are on the rise, accompanied by the introduction of novel payment methods accessible via bank payment terminals.
