EUROCONTROL: Air traffic reduces in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Air traffic in Georgia is significantly reduced, Trend reports via the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL).

As of September 27, some 27 flights were operated in Georgia, which is 80 percent less than on September 27 last year.

Among 42 countries in Europe, Georgia ranks 41st in terms of flight reductions.

More flights than Georgia were reduced only in Israel (-88 percent), whereas less affected countries were in Albania (-26 percent), Luxembourg (-31 percent), and Turkey (-44 percent).

The limitations imposed on scheduled international air flights have been prolonged until 1 November 2020 in Georgia, said Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.

“The restriction on regular international flights has been extended and is in force until October 31, 2020. The restriction does not apply to regular international flights carried out between Tbilisi International Airport (ICAO code UGTB) and the following airports: Munich (ICAO code EDDM); Paris (ICAO code LFPG); Riga (ICAO code EVRA),” the document reads.

The mentioned decision was made due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
