BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports decreased by 3.2 percent from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022) to May 29, 2022, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports via today's report of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the report, a total of 26.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting period. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at about 27.4 million tons.

So, 9.49 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned period. This is a decrease of 8.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (10.4 million tons).

The volume of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container shipments amounted to 350,000 tons. This is a decrease of 8.8 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (380,000 tons).

The volume of other container shipments was 4 million tons, which is 12.7 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (4.59 million tons).

The general cargo volume stood at 4.26 million tons showing a 12.8-percent increase compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (3.78 million tons).

Dry bulk cargo volume reached 8.18 million tons. This is an increase of 5 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year (7.79 million tons).

The liquid bulk cargo was 550,000 tons. This is 35.6 percent less than in the same period of the last Iranian year (850,000 tons).

The cargo was loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports in Abadan, Arvandkenar, Astara, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, Anzali, Bushehr, Tiab, Jask, Chabahar, Charak, Chavibdeh, Khorramshahr, Dayyer, Shahid Bahonar, Shahid Rajaee, Shahid Haqqani, Fereidoonkenar, Qeshm, Genaveh, Bandar Lengeh, and Noshahr.
