On Thursday, Uzbek President Islam Karimov's official visit to Kazakhstan began. The visit is made at the invitation of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
During the visit, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov and Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov met.
The sides discussed the current state and promising directions of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, issues of cooperation in the framework of international organizations, and exchanged views on the current situation in Central Asia.
Following the meeting, the ministers signed a program of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for 2012-2014.
