BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 6. Kazakhstan’s estimated wheat production reached 13.7 million tons in 2022, which is an increase of 16.1 percent, compared to 11.8 million tons in 2021, Trend reports referring to the latest edition of the “Crop Prospects and Food Situation” issued by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

These results make Kazakhstan one of the major global producers of wheat, barely missing the top 10 position. The Central Asian nation holds the 12th position among the key wheat-producing countries.

Kazakhstan’s production level in 2023 is forecasted to remain at a similar level, with FAO expecting Kazakhstan to produce around 13.6 million tons of wheat before the end of 2023.

During the previous five years, Kazakhstan produced 13.0 million tons of wheat per annum on average.

FAO is a UN organization that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve nutrition and food security. It helps governments and development agencies coordinate their activities to improve and develop agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and land and water resources.
