Kyrgyzstan's mining sector shows strong growth in revenues

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 15. Kyrgyzstan's mining sector generated revenue amounting to 48.4 billion soms ($543 million) in 2022, the country's President, Sadyr Zhaparov, said, Trend reports.

He disclosed this information during the second People's Kurultai, a grand national assembly that includes citizens, local communities, self-government bodies, and state authorities.

Zhaparov highlighted the substantial growth in revenue from the mining sector, noting that in 2020, it amounted to 18.2 billion soms ($204 million), representing an increase of two and a half times by 2022.

"At present, significant attention is being paid to geological exploration. While the collected data dates back to the Soviet era, our mining explorations continue, resulting in new discoveries," Zhaparov said.

He emphasized the creation of conditions for industrial development in Kyrgyzstan, including the operation of 60 major enterprises and the creation of 7,700 jobs. Additionally, over three years, 1,282 industrial enterprises received financing through funds and banks.

"Kyrgyzstan's company, Kyrgyzindustry, is executing nearly 20 projects. Our industrial facilities produce electronics, buttons, nails, hardware, plastic, porcelain, printers, copiers, cash registers, bricks, concrete, nitrogen fertilizers, and more," the president added.

Highlighting collaborative efforts in engineering, Zhaparov mentioned the ongoing joint venture with Uzbekistan to establish an assembly plant for automotive vehicles. He also mentioned upcoming construction plans for a specialized machinery plant and factories for clinker, cement production, ceramic tiles, and porcelain stoneware.

The ongoing second People's Kurultai in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, is attended by President Sadyr Zhaparov, Speaker of Parliament Nurlanbek Shakiev, Cabinet of Ministers Chair Akylbek Japarov, government officials, municipal representatives, and the public sector.
