BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 18. The Cabinet of the Ministers of Kyrgyzstan has extended a ban on the export of shell limestone from Kyrgyzstan to countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) customs territory, Trend reports.

According to the cabinet's resolution, the ban applies to unprocessed, roughly crushed limestone, as well as limestone cut into rectangular and square blocks or slabs (HS codes 2515 11 000 0 and 2515 12 000 0). The restrictions will remain in place for six months.

The nation's Ministry of Economy and Commerce is tasked with notifying the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) about the temporary ban within three days of the decree's enactment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also required to inform the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) within the same timeframe. The State Customs Service and the Border Service of the National Security Committee are to take necessary measures to prevent illegal exports of the banned goods.

To note, the stone-working sector in Kyrgwzstan boasts substantial reserves of aesthetically appealing granites and granodiorites located at the Kaindinskoye deposit (approximately 9 million m3) and the Aralskoye deposit (879 thousand m3). Additionally, the industry is enriched with a variety of colored marbles sourced from the Akart deposit (3.1 million m3), Arym (1.8 million m3), Bozbutoo (3.6 million m3), Gulderek (1.6 million m3), Tashkoro (1.2 million m3), and Chaartash (2.4 million m3). Furthermore, the Sary-Tash deposit contributes significant volumes of limestone-shell rock, totaling 14.1 million m3.
