Tajikistan's Sughd region unveils volume of fish production in 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. The volume of fish production in Tajikistan's Sughd region amounted to more than 800 tons in 2022, Trend reports via Tajik media.

According to preliminary calculations, the value of produced fish in the Sughd region reached 19.3 million somoni ($1.8 million) in 2022.

The head of the Sughd region Rajabboy Ahmadzoda noted that the most favorable conditions for fishing are in Khujand, Guliston, Jabbor-Rasulov and Bobojon-Gafurov districts of the region. Trout, whitefish, pike, sturgeon and grass carp are mainly grown in the Sughd region.

During the last year, the number of fish farms in the country increased. There were 372 fish farms throughout Tajikistan on an area of 2744 hectares, which is 9 farms and 29 hectares more than in 2021.
