DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 12. The German KfW Development Bank will allocate a 10 million euro grant for the construction of the "Sebzor" hydroelectric power station (HPP) in Tajikistan, Trend reports.
As per the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the corresponding document was signed by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavki Zavkizoda, the Director of KfW for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, Veronica Garcia del Arco, along with the Director of the KfW Regional Office for Central Asia, Andreas Schneider, and the management of Tajikistan's Pamir Energy company.
The construction of the Sebzor HPP in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region on the Shokhdara river began in 2015. The HPP will have an 11 MW capacity, supplying energy to over 227,000 people in the Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous region and 468,000 people in bordering areas of neighboring Afghanistan.
Until today, with the support of the Tajikistan Government and the involvement of development partners, particularly the EU, the Government of Germany, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the World Bank (WB), a total of $84 million in grants has been raised for the construction of the Sebzor HPP.
