BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. The terminal of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport of Turkmenistan has a capacity of 400,000 containers per year, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
This was stated by the chairman of the Turkmen State Service of Maritime and River Transportation Annadurdy Kosaev at the international conference on "International transport and transit corridors: interconnection and development" (ITC 2023) held in Ashgabat on May 3 through 4, 2023.
According to him, free storage of containers for up to 60 days is provided in the terminal of the port, a cargo storage service in the "customs warehouse" mode has been introduced, according to which goods imported into the territory of Turkmenistan can be stored under control for up to three years without payment of duties and taxes, as well as without the application of various prohibitions and restrictions of an economic nature.
He noted that the Turkmenbashi seaport gave impetus to the development of public-private partnership - numerous private transport and logistics companies were formed in the country. In particular, more than 35 local companies and a number of foreign ones cooperate with the port.
Furthermore, Kosaev added that the Balkan Shipyard and Ship Repair Plant OJSC has been built on the territory of the Turkmenbashi port, the capacity of which allows building 4 ships a year, repairing more than 20 ships and processing 12,000 tons of steel.
