Large reserves of copper in Uzbekistan will help the country become one of the leaders in the production of electric vehicles and gas stations for them, Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Energy.
Electric vehicles are known to contain about four times more copper than combustion-engine cars.
According to the ministry, the issue of organizing the development of production of electric filling stations for electric vehicles on the basis of the copper cluster at Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex together with the "Uzeltekhprom" and "Uzavtoprom" Associations will be considered.
At present, more than 25 electric filling stations have already been installed in the country, and by the end of the year, the number of electric filling stations will reach approximately 50 units.
The volume of copper production in Uzbekistan has increased by almost 1.5 times over the past five years and in 2020 reached 148,000 tons.
