BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 15. Uzbekistan’s Talimarjan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) JSC signed an agreement with Spanish INTECSA Ingenieria Industrial SA and Japanese Mitsubishi Corporation for a new investment project,Trend reports via Uzbek Ministry of Energy.
The project includes construction of 2 combined-cycle units with a total capacity of at least 900 MW at Talimarjan TPP by 2025.
The amount of investment was not revealed.
The project is aimed at reliable supply of electricity to consumers in the country’s Samarkand and Bukhara regions, seven pumping stations on the Karshi main channel and many other settlements.
As a result of the increase in generating capacity, the Talimarjan TPP will additionally generate 7.2 billion kWh of electricity per year. At the same time, due to the use of highly economical technologies, 520 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved.
The amount of emissions of CO2 and pollutants into the environment will be reduced by 1,500 tons per year.
