BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. Uzbekistan has launched the “Sunny House" program, which is aimed at encouraging the installation of low-power solar panels on the roofs of residential buildings, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry.

The ministry's statement says that the program is launching within the framework of the Uzbek Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution dated March 14, 2023.

According to the program, solar panels with a total capacity of 182.1 MW will be installed on the roofs of 36,600 residential buildings countrywide.

At the same time, recently Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the "On measures to accelerate the introduction of renewable energy sources and energy-saving technologies in 2023" Resolution.

According to the Resolution, solar panels with a capacity of 220 MW will be installed at social facilities and government departments, at enterprises – 1300 MW, and at a newly built apartment building – at 15 MW.

The number of solar panels will be increased not only in Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent but also in the regions of the country such as Andijan, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Fergana, Navoi, and Samarkand.
