TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 11. Uzbekistan's Thermal Power Plants (TPP) JSC generated 54.2 billion kWh of electric energy in 2023, Trend reports.

This figure is 1.4 billion kWh more than the plan; the goal set was fulfilled by 102.6 percent.

Thermal Power Plants is the main producer of electric energy in Uzbekistan. The share of the industry's enterprises in the electricity produced in Uzbekistan is more than 70 percent.

The JSC invested $622.63 million in 2023, and the fulfillment of the set plan amounted to 100.1 percent. In order to introduce new modern energy-efficient units, construction of a combined cycle plant with a capacity of 1,065 MW was launched at Talimarjan TPP. Moreover, two gas turbine units with a capacity of 64 MW will be commissioned at Tashkent TPP in the first quarter of 2024.

In order to prepare thermal power plants for the fall-winter period of 2023–2024, repair work was carried out on 53 power units. As a result, it was possible to increase the existing capacity of power units by 209 MW, as well as the capacity of boiler units by 483 tons per hour.

A total of 35 projects worth 35 billion soums ($2.8 million) were scheduled for production in 2023. This indicator amounted to 48.1 billion soums ($3.9 million), with the fulfillment of the task increasing by 137 percent. In addition, the purchase of goods at cooperative tenders was forecast at 169 billion soums ($13.7 million); however, the actual product purchase amounted to 180.1 billion soums ($14.6 million), or 106 percent. In accordance with measures to reduce imports, products worth $18.5 million were manufactured by TPP's own forces, resulting in the fulfillment of the established annual plan by 107.4 percent.

The thermal power plants also carry out systematic work on compensating electricity used for their own needs at the expense of "green energy." In particular, in order to ensure the fulfillment of a number of instructions from the Head of State in this direction, solar photovoltaic stations with a capacity of 9.6 MW will be put into operation in 2023. The measures are taken to bring this capacity up to 15 MW.

Earlier, Uzbekistan’s Uzbekenergotamir JSC, which is part of Uzbekistan’s Thermal Power Plants JSC, and China’s Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co. Ltd. reached an agreement on the development of the Uzbek electric power industry.

By the end of construction projects within this agreement, it will be possible to introduce modern digital technologies into the system of high-voltage electric networks in Uzbekistan, as well as create new jobs.
