Iran is establishing a GIS satellite center, Iranian Communications Minister Rza Tagipur was quoted as saying by the Iranian Mehr news agency today.
"The center's establishment is an aerospace organization project," he said. "I hope the center will be put into operation by late 2009."
According to Tagipura, the GIS center will be the country's national satellite information center and all relevant organizations will be able to use its data.
"The center will assist professionals in the fight against air pollution, oil pollution in the Persian Gulf and in other spheres," he added.
