BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7. The first shipment of 200 tons of chicken eggs from Iran will be sent to Russia next week, Chairman of Iran's Mihan Poultry Farmers Union Hamid Reza Kashani said, Trend reports.
He claims to be optimistic about the long-term viability of Iran's chicken egg exports to Russia.
Kashani claimed Iran will raise chicken egg production to 1.4 million tons and exports to 150,000–160,000 tons in the current Iranian year (March 20, 2024–2025). From March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024, Iran produced 1.3 million tons of chicken eggs and exported 137,000 tons.
The official stated that the main export destinations for Iranian chicken eggs are Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, the UAE, Oman, and Turkmenistan.
Kashani added that over the past 45 days, the state-set price of chicken eggs in the country has caused farmers to suffer losses of 45 trillion rials (about $1.07 billion).
Currently, the approved price for 1 kg of chicken eggs is 150,000 rials (about $3.57). Iran's Ministry of Agriculture has purchased 10 thousand tons of chicken eggs worth 450,000 rials (about $10.7) from farmers. However, the real price of each 1 kg of chicken eggs is 600,000 rials (about $14.3).
Iranian markets sell a carton of 30 chicken eggs for 900,000 rials (about $21.4). In recent days, the price of chicken eggs has increased by 100,000 rials (about $2.4) due to the spread of news about Iran's increased chicken egg exports.
