Turkey discloses volume of cargo transported through Istanbul port

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 16

Some 650,332 tons of cargo were transported via Turkey’s Istanbul port in the first ten months of 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on Dec. 16.

According to the ministry, 49,717 tons of cargo were handled through the port by ships flying the Turkish flag while 600,615 tons by ships flying the flags of other countries during the reporting period.

Meanwhile, 10,046 tons of cargo were transited via the Istanbul port, the ministry said.

Over 318.9 million tons of goods were transshipped through the Turkish ports from January through October 2021, 25.02 million tons of cargo were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag and more than 293.9 million tons - by ships flying the flags of other countries.

More than 63.8 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in the first ten months of this year.

Some 32.4 million tons of cargo were transported through the Turkish ports in October 2021.

Around 2.4 million tons of cargo were transported to the domestic ports via ships flying the Turkish flag while 30.04 million tons via ships flying the flags of other countries.

Meanwhile, over 6.7 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in October 2021.
