Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Aug.19 / Trend, H. Hasanov /

The total cost of facilities under construction in the national tourist zone "Avaza", in the Caspian Sea region, is more than $2 billion, Turkmen State Committee for Tourism and Sport told local press.
The report says that Turkmenistan attaches special attention to the development of tourism.
The most striking example of this is the establishment of the "Avaza" zone, which enables full realization of the country's natural and economic potential, with enormous potential in the development of the health resort and ecotourism.
The State Committee emphasizes that today there are first-class hotels, improvements in health, entertainment, and sports centers in this resort-tourist zone that meets all international standards.
At present, Turkmenistan has 18 tourism enterprises. Specialists have developed hundreds of routes on inbound and domestic tourism.
The "National Program of Support and Development of tourism in Turkmenistan for 2011-2020" envisages the construction of modern hotels in each regional center, along with reconstruction and expansion of existing hotels. Motels and camping sites will be constructed on the most important highways.
Construction of a seaport in the "Avaza" will enable the development of cruise routes across the Caspian Sea for visits and vacations to Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran.
After completing the construction of the international North-South transport corridor, built jointly by Turkmenistan, Iran, and Kazakhstan, and designed by the shortest route to link European and South Asian states, tourist routes will also be created. Investments in the development of tourism potential will consistently increase.
