A landslide area map is being created in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences Vice President Akif Alizade told media today.
He said there are many areas in the country prone to landslides, including the Baku-Absheron zone, Mingachevir, Lankaran-Talish zone and the Greater Caucasus zone.
"These areas are considered weak from a geological point of view," he said. It is necessary to create maps of these zones."
He also stressed the cause of the landslide, which occurred in Lerik last year, referring to the geology of this area.
