К.Ramazanova / The specialists of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Azerbaijani National Academy of Science (ANAS) are developing the report about the possibility of construction of the nuclear-research reactor in the country, Andrei Chupov, IAEA senior manager, said in his interview to journalists on 23 January.
On 22 January, Chupov started his visit to Azerbaijan. The goal of the visit is to discuss the projects, which will be implemented by the Agency in Azerbaijan. The projects envisage construction of the first nuclear-research reactor. " Azerbaijan appealed to IAEA to study the issues, as well as to submit them to the Government," he said. According to him, the Government will take the last decision on construction of the reactor.
Chupov stated that during the six years of membership of Azerbaijan in IAEA, which the country has passed in extremely good way, and has also reached a lot of success, to make the others understand what each country expect from the cooperation.
Touching upon the cooperation of Iran with IAEA, he said that the Agency may greet the development of nuclear technologies in any country, only for the peace purpose and under the strong control.
