The dismissed Economy Minister, Lasha Zhvaniya denies reports on his position going to the opposition party "Our Georgia-Free Democrats". "Although the opposition leader, Irakliy Alasaniya is my close friend, I will not refuse support for Georgian President, Mikhail Saakashvilli," Zhvaniya said after a special briefing following his discharge on Aug.21.

"Moreover, Alasaniya is the godfather of my child, so our friendship is also tied up with those Orthodox bonds which are sacred to us. But I don't change my political views because of my friendship," Zhvaniya said.

Zhvaniya mentioned that he considers Saakashvili's economic program as the most appropriate for the country's emergence from the crisis. "If someone was to show me better program, then I would reconsider and tell Saakashvili. But today I do not know any program better than that suggested by the President," Zhvaniya added.
