West's double standards hinder the Kazakh authorities to detain the citizens convicted, but escaped abroad, chairman of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs, defence and security Amzebek Zholshybekov said at a briefing in Astana.

"You know well that there are citizens of Kazakhstan, who were convicted under our laws, but are outside the country. Because of the double standards, they are still in freedom," said Zholshybekov, returning from the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

Zholshybekov did not name the Kazakh citizens, who escaped from justice. "I have repeatedly said in my official speeches in Oslo and Vienna that it is time to depart from the policy of double standards," he said.

The next session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was held in the Italian city of Palermo. The session focused on the important issues such as combating transnational organized crime and corruption.

But at the same time, responding to journalists' questions about what specific decisions were taken in Palermo, MP Zholshybekov complained of West's double standards in respect of certain Kazakh proposals.

At the same time, he remembered that at the sessions of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, as a rule, the laws are not accepted, but opinions are formed.
