Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 17 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /
The European Parliament approved a resolution on Human Rights of 2009. The document included the analysis of the situation to ensure human rights in Georgian occupied territories.
According to the Georgian media, the resolution states that the European Parliament regrets the violation of the international humanitarian law during the war in Georgia in 2008, which killed hundreds of people and tens of thousands became internally displaced people.
The report also said that until now Russia has complied with only one item of the six-point Ceasefire Agreement. It also said that Georgian villages were deliberately destroyed in Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
EU High Commissioner for International Affairs Catherine Ashton participated in discussing the resolution.
Tbilisi considers the European Parliament's support for Georgia logical. According to the Georgian MPs, the West regularly reminds Moscow about its mistakes through resolutions and other documents.
