The Azerbaijani Embassy in Saudi Arabia has not received appeals from Azerbaijani citizens temporarily residing in Yemen, Bahrain and Oman to evacuate them due to the unrest in the countries First Secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Saudi Arabia Togrul Gafarov told Trend.
If the embassy receives such appeals, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Saudi Arabia supervising these countries will provide the necessary assistance, Gafarov said.
He said about 5-10 Azerbaijani citizens live in each of these countries.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry last week warned the country's citizens about the situation in Yemen and asked citizens to refrain from trips to this country.
Mass anti-government demonstrations and riots have been underway since early February in Yemen. Many people have been killed and injured. In this regard, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has asked citizens to refrain from making trips to this country.
Azerbaijani citizens facing problems in Yemen are recommended to contact the embassy in Saudi Arabia and the diplomatic mission office in Jeddah for quick assistance.
Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Sana'a, demanding political reform, in early February.
Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has stated that he is is not looking to extend his presidential term, which expires in 2013.
About a thousand people have taken part in demonstrations in Yemen.
Demonstrations and riots have continued in Bahrain for several few days.
