Secretary of Iran Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili says the Islamic Republic will help Syria to stand against plots by "global arrogance", Press TV reported.
Addressing reporters in Syria's capital, Damascus, on Saturday, Jalili said Iran would continue supporting the Syrian government.
The Iranian official added that Muslim and Arab countries should do everything in their power to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people as Syria is the front line in the fight against Israel.
Jalili left Tehran for Syria on Feb.2, Mehr News Agency reported.
The goal of the visit is has not made public officially, but Iranian media outlets linked the visit with Israeli airplanes' strike on a Syrian "military research center".
Syria Army released statement on Jan.30 saying that Israel airplanes bombed a military research center in northern region, but according to reports, Syrian rebels and Western diplomats say the strike carried out over an arms convoy that was carrying weapons from Syria to its ally Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Syrian Army says the strike left two dead and five injured people.
Syria and its closest ally Iran threated Israel, saying that Tel-Aviv should wait for a strong retaliation.
