Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. A.Gasimova / Russia traditionally suplies with arms both to Armenia and Azerbaijan, therefore the latest deliver will not change the balance of force of bothe countries, Pavel Felgengauer, the Russian independent military expert considers.
Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan signed contracts on supply new armaments, including purchacing of seventy APC (armoured personnel carrier) -80 of Russian production for $40mln, the Vedemosti newspaper of Moscow has reported. These APC have been used since 1986.
The Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation did not informed about the volume of armamnt supplied from Russia to both countries. According to the Azerbaijani military expert, Alakpar Mammadov, Russia periodically supplies arms to Russia, including APC. In 1995 the Russian Federation supplied arms to Armenia for $1bln. Moreover, the Russian arms situated in Alkhalaki, Georgia were also transferred to Armenia.
Felgengauer noted that the contract signed in July would not change the force balance. There is not anything unusual if Russia simultaneously supplies arms to both countries.
