Criminal Trial on Criminal Gang Connected with Sepah Organization Completed in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / The court trial involving the gang charged with attempt to coup d'etat in order to establish the Islam State and connected with the Sepah organization was completed in Azerbaijan

The questioning of the gang consisting of 16 members was completed in the Heinous Crimes Court of Azerbaijan on 13 November.

The process will be continued on 23 November.

The State Prosecutor will ask to punish the head of the gang Said Dadashbayli.

Dadashbayli and 15 other arrested members of the gang are charged with contravening Articles 218 (organization of crime community), 274 (high treason) 28 (preparations to crime) 278 (attempt to coup d'etat); 228 (illegal keep of arms) 204 (keep of false money and securities) 234 (illegal keep and transport of drugs).

The members of the gang were detained as a result of the operation held by officials of the National Security Ministry of Azerbaijan in January 2007.

Sepah is accused in organizing terror attacks on Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries.

Sepah was established in 1980 at the initiative of the religious leader of Iran Imam Khomeyni with respect to protect the state border. The organization which unites 150,000 members, has become a huge network. Besides, the political and economic spheres, they are also involved in the military sector. Part of Sepah's military network is called Jerusalem.
