Azerbaijani press leads on South Caucasus: ruling party

Azerbaijan holds the leading position on the South Caucasus, in terms of reporting, Deputy Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan ruling party, Mubariz Gurbanli, said at a meeting with media groups on the occasion of Press Day on July 21.

Azerbaijan holds the leading position on the South Caucasus, in terms of reporting, Deputy Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan ruling party, Mubariz Gurbanli, said at a meeting with media groups on the occasion of Press Day on July 21.

He said that the Azerbaijani press leads on the region.

Azerbaijani journalism will be 134 years old on July 22. 'The Plowman' newspaper, under the leadership of Hasan bay Zardabi, was published on July 22, 1875.  

Gurbanli said that the Azerbaijani press had experienced huge developments and had affirmed itself.

"When earlier the Azerbaijani press cited and referred to foreign media, now the world press quotes Azerbaijani media. The Azerbaijani press has made itself a centre of excellent," he said.

The official representative of the New Azerbaijan Party said that Azerbaijani journalists are not behind their foreign colleagues in terms of professionalism. Gurbanli said that the government and the state always support press development and he gave information about accomplishments in the field.
