Azerbaijan's healthcare has achieved significant success over the past five years and realizes its major investment projects, the Director General of the World Health Organization Margaret Chan said at the 61st session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe.
Chan voiced several recommendations related to health in Azerbaijan. She noted the need to pay attention to the construction of new hospitals and treatment of non-infectious diseases.
"You have taken the responsibility of ensuring public health. You seek regional development and want to solve economic difficulties, as well as the problem of an aging population. You seek for Azerbaijani healthcare to become more open and available to treating people," she added.
She said that $30 trillion will be allocated to treating infectious diseases throughout the world during the next 20 years.
