The construction of Turkey's largest container town is being completed in the Kilis district of Elbeyli province, CNN Türk channel reported on Wednesday.

The town will consist of 3600 containers and completed next month.

It is reported that the container town will be able to accommodate about 20,000 Syrian refugees.

The town will have two mosques, two supermarkets, four schools, four administrative buildings, two storehouses, one health centre and other facilities. The construction cost of the town is 45.4 million Turkish liras.

Earlier, the head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of Turkey (AFAD) Fuat Oktay said that there are about 300,000 Syrian refugees in Turkey.

According to Oktay, over 181,000 Syrians live in refugee camps created by the Turkish government. Moreover, more than 100,000 refugees have settled outside the camps in the border provinces of Turkey.

For more than two years Syrian government forces have clashed with the armed opposition. According to UN data, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria has exceeded 70,000 with about three million in need of humanitarian aid. Syrian officials claim that they are opposed by well-armed militants.
