(dailymail.co.uk) - William and Harry will today lead an emotional service to mark the tenth anniversary of the death of their mother.
The princes will give readings at the thanksgiving event and may even make an unprecedented personal tribute to Diana.
More than 450 friends, relatives and dignitaries have been invited as well as representatives of charities that the Princess of Wales supported during her life.
A notable absentee from the service - to be held at the Guards Chapel in St James's Park, central London, is the princes' stepmother, the Duchess of Cornwall.
The Prince of Wales's second wife was forced to pull out following public hostility and criticism from Diana's friends.
Diana was 36 when she lost her life in a Paris underpass in 1997.
Her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, and the chauffeur of their Mercedes, Henri Paul, also perished.
An inquest into their deaths will finally get under way in October.
The princes, who were aged 15 and 12 when they lost their mother, have always been reluctant to speak about her in public.
Friends say their silence is the only way they can keep a piece of the princess for themselves.
The brothers are said to be determined, however, that her legacy should continue and are using the anniversary of her death to celebrate a remarkable life.
"William and Harry want today's service to be a celebration of their mother's achievements as well as an occasion for contemplation of a life cut tragically short," said an aide.
