BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 12. The number of foreign tourists who visited Azerbaijan grew in December 2022, the State Tourism Agency told Trend.
According to the agency, this figure amounted to nearly 143,813 people, up by 46,066 (47 percent) on annual basis.
The largest number of tourists (42,736 people), nearly 30 percent of the total number, were Russian citizens, the agency said.
Besides, according to the agency, 28,387 people visited Azerbaijan from Türkiye, 12,641 from Iran, 9,555 from Georgia, 7,600 from India, 4,381 from Pakistan, and 2,787 from Uzbekistan.
“The share of such countries as Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Kuwait, Belarus and the UK accounted for 13,214 people, or nearly 10 percent of the total number of tourists," added the agency.
Since the beginning of 2022, foreigners in Azerbaijan have made transactions worth two billion manat ($1.18 billion) with bank cards.
