Azerbaijan Supports Joining of Ports Without Outlet to Sea with Land Transport Within UN European Economic Commission

Azerbaijan, Baku, 8 September / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The UN Economic Commission of Europe (UNECE) member-countries will meet in Piree, Greece on 17 and 18 September to work out a strategy to develop ports, which do not have outlet to seas, the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry said on 8 September. The Transport Ministries from over 50 Almaty action program member-countries are expected to attend at the conference including Azerbaijan.

"Despite the program was accepted in 2003, the work had been carried out to join the countries, as well as port capacity for harmony assistance of junction ports with land transport," the Ministry said.

Meeting's key goal is to develop international sea highways and logistic infrastructure for redistribution of sea cargo.

The recommendations, which will be submitted in the meeting, will be taken into account by UNECE Task Group on sea dry joining of sea ports.

On 8 September, the official currency rate is 0,8147 AZN/USD.
