Azerbaijan, Baku, May 1 / Trend, A.Akhundov /
The State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan has begun to carry out controls in connection with imposing a ban on imports of VAZ 2107, VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115 cars from May 1, because they do not have anti-lock braking system (ABS) system and air bags, SCC chairman Aydin Aliyev told reporters on Tuesday.
In accordance with the requirements of national standard AZS 635-2012, 'The order of certification of wheeled vehicles, their equipment and parts', from May 1 transport vehicles (except for the four-wheel drive) imported into Azerbaijan or manufactured domestically must have an ABS system and at least an airbag.
"Supply of VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115 cars may be extended until Oct.1 within agreements under state guarantee, as they are in force by this period," Aliyev said.
Earlier Azerbaijan imposed a ban on the import of cars that do not meet Euro 2 emissions standards.
